With more than 33 years of experience as an electrical engineer evaluating, recommending, and providing design of physical security systems for protection of high value government assets, Thomas (Tom) Mack is a Principal Member of the Technical Staff in the International Nuclear Security Engineering department at Sandia National Laboratories. 

His work includes testing and evaluation of interior and exterior intrusion detection technologies as well as providing engineering support and services for a wide range of physical security enhancement projects for government facilities, domestic and foreign.  Tom also develops and teaches courses and workshops on the methodologies for the protection, performance testing, and design of physical protection systems. Many of these courses are provided to a wide variety of audiences, both domestic and overseas, under the direction of U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration. Others are taught under contract with agencies such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission where he is the SNL lead to provide support for the training of NRC inspectors.

Before joining Sandia, Tom spent 16 years as a Security Engineer working at the Idaho National Laboratory’s Naval Reactors Facility and Argonne National Laboratory West.
