INS Mod/Sim Training

As part of its core global security mission, the NNSA Office of International Nuclear Security sponsored the development of modeling and simulation (mod/sim) tools that can assist in the design, assessment, and improvement of physical protection systems. To showcase these tools and how they can be deployed, the NNSA-INS Mod/Sim Team will host a training event from 22-25 April 2025 at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The classroom-based, hands-on course will cover the following topics:

  • A broad overview of PathTrace and Scribe3D mod/sim tools and their functionality.
  • How PathTrace and Scribe3D can be used for physical protection system design, evaluation, and technology upgrades, and operational staff training.
  • Basic instruction to teach core user skills for using PathTrace and Scribe3D.
  • Exercise demonstrations and strategies for deploying these tools at various reactor sites.

This course is open to NNSA-INS staff and associated physical security lab leads and staff. Participants can use NNSA-INS Professional Development funds to attend, with approval from their manager. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
