The Office of International Nuclear Security (INS) has developed and is conducting the Integrated Site Security Management (ISSM) Bootcamp for National Nuclear Security Administration/INS and Laboratory staff interested in gaining a better understanding for how nuclear security practices are integrated at the operational level.
The ISSM Bootcamp will focus on discussing and analyzing the operational interfaces at a nuclear site to promote the implementation of best practices for effective and efficient mitigation of a nuclear security event. The bootcamp’s interactive activities involve the use of two hypothetical nuclear sites modeled in Scribe3D. It also includes postulated nuclear security events related unauthorized removal and sabotage. This approach will enhance participants understanding of how nuclear security practices are integrated at the operational level to mitigate the events. Participants will be asked to identify the primary job functions that play a role in responding to an onsite nuclear security event and discuss how those job functions should interface effectively with other operational organizations as part of the event response. In addition, it will provide opportunities for subject matter experts and discipline leads that support INS to gain a better understanding for how nuclear security is implemented and managed within a broader operational context. The ISSM Bootcamp will share how INS, Analytics & Innovation, and SSM supports bi-lateral cooperation with international partners to strengthen nuclear security more globally, and how that engagement can be better informed by nuclear industry experts. HQ staff and SMEs that support the NID and ETS Pillars and the Bilat Program are highly encouraged to attend.
Participants may request the use of NNSA/INS Professional Development funds to attend this course.
