A physical security subject matter expert in the International Nuclear Security Engineering department, Remengton Pierce supports the U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Office of International Nuclear Security (INS, NA-211) by providing technical support to multiple international partners. His expertise includes central alarm station operations, integrated security design, and performance testing of physical protection systems (PPS). Remengton also facilitates courses and workshops focusing on the design, protection, and testing of PPS for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

With more than six years of unmanned aerial system (UAS) piloting experience, Remengton also supports efforts to integrate UAS and counter unmanned aerial systems (CUAS) with traditional physical protection systems that secure nuclear facilities in the U.S. and abroad.

Remengton began his career at Sandia as an intern, gaining hands-on technical experience at the Nuclear Security Technology Complex (NSTC). At NSTC, testing and evaluation and research and development activities are performed on next-generation technologies, including UAS/CUAS, cyber-attack simulations, network security systems, sensor fusion, augmented vision analytics, touchless biometric, lidar, radar, and thermal imaging.

Remengton earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Finance and a master’s degree in Computer Science/Cybersecurity from the University of New Mexico.
