Michael (Mike) Rowland joined Sandia National Laboratories in 2019, and is currently working on cybersecurity research projects focused on Advanced Reactors, Supply Chain, Cyber Security Operations Centre, and Blended attack exercises.

Mike has led efforts to develop international consensus publications, specialized training courses for global audiences, and advancing research efforts in incident response, and served as the primary lead for the first International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) international consensus publication on computer security for Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems at nuclear facilities. While working at Ontario Power Generation, Mike developed the utility’s first cyber security program, which included several innovations with respect to technical vulnerability management of nuclear safety systems and operational technology. 

Mike is a Professional Engineer and obtained his M. Sc. from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK.  Mike is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Professional Engineer, and obtained his B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
